Who you invite to do SEO for your website can be crucial for your business. Make sure that you know how to spot a real SEO professional to avoid wondering why your website is not gaining much traffic.
The Reason Why SEO Is Not Working
It could be a million things.
I had a client the other day; he called me and asked why his SEO is not working, saying he had been paying for it for three years. Well, most likely, he had something that is called snake oil SEO, or someone who kind of knows SEO but is not a hundred percent sure.
Good at Marketing Does Not Mean Good at SEO
For example, someone who is good at marketing but is trying to oversell themselves and also sell SEO. Well, these two things interject and intersect a lot of the time, but it does not really mean that it is going to work.
Web Development and SEO
Also, it could be a web developer who is overselling himself doing web development work. And also the other way around. For example, you can be an SEO expert but not a very good web designer, so you have to outsource the work. So, that could be the reason.
Do You Have a Timeframe?
In most cases, SEOs would give you a timeframe for how long it will take to work. So, originally, did you ask them how fast you will get the results? If they told you six months and it’s been a year, then it should be a red flag.
I think, except for that, anything else would be too complicated to explain because it is sometimes a technical issue. Maybe your website is in JavaScript, and there was an algorithm update that affected your website. So, it could be many things.
